JOEL SPRINGS
A quick scan of the new issue of Dig BMX made us realise that we had to scrap a future Freaky Friday idea. We all must have been tuned into the same wavelength cause we'd planned on doing a FF homage to Austin's premier swimming spot, Barton Springs, but Empire had the same idea (Joel Ad) and beat us to the punch! If you're gonna lose, best to lose to some of Austin's finest!
Joel flipped and Devon snapped.
Have a good weekend.

SLOW DOWN
For the next week the news updates are (probably) gonna slow way down cause... We're no here.
You can busy yourself by browsing around Sieben's new site, if you want.
Or if you're near Austin, there's always the social ride ending in a show at T1 this Thursday (we'll be here).
Or the Cantanker Magazine release and exhibit at the Pump Project Gallery in East Austin, where Sandy's showing a piece from his Hurricane Ike project.
Saturday, August 29th, 7-10PM.
Have fun.

In the land of the blind,
the one-eyed man is king
Finally we have an update regarding the new products. We'll have a shipment arriving in the Fall and this'll include Ruben's frame, plus new bars and the new sprockets.
The Ruben frame's coming in three color options: two tone Light Blue/Dark Blue, two tone Cream/Grey and also in Solid Black. The toptube lengths will be 20.6", 20.8", and 21.15" and the weight is around 5 pounds even.
There's also two sets of multi-butted bars. 11 butts to be exact. There is one model with an 8" rise / 28" width, and an 8.25" rise / 28.5" width. They will be available in Black, Raw and Cream.
The "Logan's Run" sprockets. Sizes: 25T, 28T and 30T, in Black, Red and Silver.
Right around the same time that stuff is available, we'll have a run of Cyclops stems too. It's looking like Black and Polished will be the first 2 colors available. But there will be more runs to follow in a few different colors. Reach: 53mm. Weight: right at 10 oz.
SFA frames: These will be manufactured by Solid Bikes. They are just waiting to get some remaining parts in, and they should start production. These will be more of a novelty item, as our cost on them has gone up a lot.
Because of the price increase, we won't be able to sell these through distributors. They would just cost way too much. So these will be sold to customers direct, and some bike shops too. So if you are interested in one of these beauties, please contact me at: info@terrribleone.com. Please put SFA frame on the subject line.
Barcodes: We are currently waiting for another prototype with some minor changes from the first prototype we received. I will post pictures as soon as it comes in. These will be available very soon and will be sold through distributors and bike shops.
Thanks.

* I forgot to add this earlier... Fancy a Thursday night bike ride ending up at a show at T1? The Boogie Ride

And, the frame news is that we are proud to announce Solid will be making limited runs of Garrett frames and Barcodes! We'll post all the relevant info as soon as we have it. As far as news on the Ruben frame, all of the new bars and the new sprocket(!) goes... We're expecting those to be available in early summer. CYCLOPS

We've got some Cyclops news. Nah, not about Ray Harryhausen's monster but about our own little monster - the T1 Cyclops stem.
In 2-3 weeks we should have finished samples. That means, anodized and etched stems which just have to be okayed and then production will start. It's been a long road of testing and refining, but one we feel was necessary in order to produce the best possible product. Many thanks to Povah, Phil at Super Rat Machine Works and everyone who helped with the testing and who gave us feedback. We hope you'll like it. Thanks for your patience.

THE WAY WE APPEAR ON THE INTERNET
Okay, it seems that last week's Freaky Friday email caused some confusion. Personally, I'm all for that, but anyway, here's the thinking behind it... We did a Google image search for people with the same name as T1 riders. Some drew blanks but the elusive Mr. Buchanan's name drew the rather elegant looking gentleman that became our Freaky Friday subject. Noice, huh? Ah well, here's how art genius Michael Sieben really looks... Or is it???

Well, I feel like we are ahead of our usual game this year at least. And I just saw a news bit today that it was 40 degrees below zero last night in Minnesota. So these should at least help y'all with keeping warm over the next months.
I had this idea that I wanted to see a back print again on a zip up sweatshirt. So Michael and I thought that the Goat Reaper would be perfect for that. To me it looks more like some heavy metal band's hoodie. That was the goal. I'm sure more than a few of you will laugh at the Bullseye design. I feel like its very fitting for us in a fun way. Not to mention, I really like the arrows that are printed on the hood.
Both of these sweatshirts are printed on 50/50 American Apparel Sweatshirts. So most of you should like the fit. Although some of us may have to go up a size. ha ha. Enjoy.

the day before tomorrow
Happy January 12th to everyone. And why wouldn't it be?! It seems like the new Dig Magazine "trials issue" has been quite a hit. There is so much good stuff packed into those pages and it seems that everyone wants to have one to call their own. Don't miss out. I thought it would be appropriate to keep their energy flowin' and include some dirt on this post. Here is a picture of the new Ruben frame prototype built up and in action. So far everything has been going well with testing. We are waiting on one more prototype to correct the height of the bottom bracket. Apart from that. Everything seems spot on. Fingers will continue to stay crossed. As you can see, Ruben seems to be liking it during this 3. Also, you can check out more specs on the frame in by clicking on the "frames" button to the right of this posting. Thanks for stopping by !

Happy New Year !
Well, here we are, 2009. What a trip. Even though measured time is something we made up, it still seems so crazy to think about how quickly days, weeks, months and years pass by. January 1st is always such a good day. People seem to look at things with a new light and enthusiasm. There is plety of talk of change and how we are going to be better people this year. We just gotta make sure we actually follow our words, not just say them with empty meaning. Ponder that one for awhile. Here in T1 land, this year is starting off right because Paul Buchanan is back in town. I can remember when I'd see that guy everyday. And his return was an instant reminder of how great that dude is. So "Cheers" to Paul for starting this year off right ! Its going to be a good one ! So with that being said, I would also like to mention that the great Shoe-G did and interview with me ( Joe Rich ) for his website and is posting it in 2 parts. The first one is up now and the 2nd part will be posted this week. If you are interested in what may lie within it, click here ! Cheers to y'all and Happy New Year !

Happy Holidays !
It tis that time of year again isn't it. Wow, does time fly. I first want to start by thanking everyone that's helped us make it another year. Its been a doozy of one to say the least. Maybe a year that has brought about the most change in what we do in awhiile. I can only imagine what I'll be typing here at this time next year . . . Since it is the season for giving, you might want to give a moment of your sign the petitiion that some guys from PA need help with. These are the same guys that have been fighting to keep the Catty trails from getting plowed. And all of their hard work has paid off, and now they are approaching the state to help change one of the laws that was working against them. If this passes, it will could help enable future trails and skateparks to happen. Click here to sign. In similar news regarding these same guys, Matt Trievel and Brian Barnhart have created an online zine called "The Dust Journal" and have just released their second issue. Click here to check out Axelrad. Take care and Happy Holidays to you all. Cheers !

images galore !
Greg Dickson came over to ride the ramp for the first time the other day. Greg is a rad dude that shares his time on the bike with taking great photos as well. Click here to check out some of his snaps of Tom D and roomy Joey, along with one of myself. This could be any random day in the T1 backyard.
We also got some new sticker sheets in and up on the online store. They are all black ink printed on whilte vinyl that you cut out yourself. We even drew a little pair of scissors on the sheet so that you know what to use ! Cheers !

Today was a good day !
Sun was shining, weather was perfect, and the newest prototype version of the Cyclops stem arrived this morning. These photos might not look that much different than the last ones, but I can tell you that this might be the final prototype for the Cyclops stem. Phil Wasson, from Super Rat Machine Works, worked some magic with the inner workings of the wedge clamping system. And the results are nothing short of excellent. I sent one off to Danny today and put the other one on my bike. Damn, I sure am exctied about these things. Its been a long road of testing and refining, but when they do finally become available, they will be the best that we could do. Here are a few more pictures for you to see. Cheers Pic1, Pic 2, Pic 3

19 days . . . that's bad !
I'm definitely not proud of this one, but I guess its been 19 days since the last news post . . . I might as well try and make light of it. There will be more to report in this upcoming week. Tomorrow is an exciting day for me. I'm to receive the 6th, yes 6th version of the Cyclops stem. Its been through months of fine tuning and my fingers are crossed that this will be the one that gives the green light to the prodution of them. So expect more photos of these tomorrow after they arrive in the PO BOX. On a lighter note, the ramp out back is finally all back together. We made one small, but not so small change to the kicker hip that runs into the 8 ft quarter. It used to be about 3 and a half, to 4 feet tall, and had a 11 or 12 ft transition. I had the bright idea of thinking we should make it the same size as the box jump lip. ( 6 ft tall with a 9 ft tranny ) Its pretty nuts and will need to be cut down a bit, but for now, it stands tall. That big ol bowl corner before it makes it a bit to hectic to deal with. Check it here. And to round out tonights entertainment, click here for some downhill insanity ! These guys are nuts ! Adios for now . . . .

Camera handle solution !

A few years back, we made a handle that you could easily bolt on to your small video camera to make filming while riding a bike much easier. Perfect for the follow cam. These came about because the more expensive cameras have handles built in, but there is no much of a choice if you have a smaller camera. Well, we got a cease and desist from some miserable bastard that was claiming he had a patent on a similar design. Not the case, but we stopped making them. Since that time, I've had so many emails asking to us to make them again. In comes our friend Steve to the rescue, with a perfect idea that anyone can do with an old set of bars and just about any tripod. This is the easiest solution I've seen yet and is Ruben approved ! Soooo good! Happy filming to you all !

Happy Halloween

Halloween is probably my favorite holiday. If you could call it a holiday. Everyone gets to step outside themselve a bit more than usual. I love it. Pumpkins are pretty fun to carve as well. While visiting the east coast last week, I got to partake in a heavy pumpkin carving session in Garrett's kitchen. Russ is part of the T1 family and lives in Australia. He had never gotten to experiece this before so it was extra fun for him. He, and his wife Emily, both schooled it. Garrett's room mate, JB, incorporateda little Mikey Sieben influence. Click the following links to see who did what. Garrett's pumpkin . . . Russ's pumpkin . . . Emily's pumpkin . . . Joe's pumpkin . . . . and JB's pumpkin. Scary stuff. On another note, its seems like someone decided to dress up as Paul Buchanan for Halloween in Vancouver ! Ok, maybe not, this is acually Paul getting rad at the Kirkstone park in BC. I think this is one of the first pictures of Paul you can actually see his face. Thanks goes out to Chester Jones for sending those to us. Happy Halloween everyone, the night's about to get good!

Paging Mr. Hickerson

I've been up east trying to get some time at the trails in this past week, but its rained almost every day. No good, but what can you do. No control over Miss Mother Nature. . .For all of you Danny fans out there, check out this video clip that just got posted on the RIDE's website of Danny doing whatever he wants to this innocent rail. Also, if you are in town, dress in your best for the annual 9th Street Halloween Jam this coming Saturday. Good times ahead !

Dear Mr. Mike Aitken . . .
Mr Mike . . . what can I say . . . you have been so good to all of us throughout the years . . . putting a smile on my face each and everytime I see you in person, or a photo of you riding, or a video clip. And then there are all of Elf's stories . . . . Damn . . . truely amazing to say the least. Seeing you do what you do is an inspiration always. I know times are tough at the moment, but you got this! And we'll all do what we can to help. All of us here in Austin have had you in our daily thoughts. We have been working on planing a day at T-1 , a damn good day that is, that may help you out a little bit. Its the least we could do. Hang in there buddy, I'll be up to see you next week. ( Click here now ! )
And click here to help Mikey from the comfort of your own home.

Stage 1
There is something about getting a stack of new lumber that never gets old. Once all of the rotton wood had been cleared out of the flatbottom on the ramp, it wasn't long before that stack of lumber was put into place. Check it out here. When we first started on the flatbottom, we were only going to be repairing what needed fixin',but once it was all apart, we started thinking more and more. Hmmmm, maybe we should change a thing or 2. stay tuned !

just a quickie
Though these were posted a couple of days ago elsewhere, I didn't want to pass up a chance to add some humor to your day. If the photo of me doesn't do it, then my lack of commentary skills will for sure. Both of these links have to do with some of the new products we are doing for 2009 and the Interbike Trade show that happened last month. Thanks Dom from Woozy and Markus from All Ride Distribution for posting these. Cheers

colored grips
Hello everyone ! If you live where there are lots of trees, chances are, you are experiencing some amazing fall colors right now. Unfortunately, when you live in Austin, summer lasts well into the months that welcome fall weather and colors everywhere else. None the less, I can't complain because the weather is niceer than its been in months. However, we have some seasonal color going on here at T1. Right before the Interbike trade show we got our newest shipment of grips in. 5 colors to choose from now, and are available everywhere now. Check them out here

Call it ramp surgery
I've come to realize that when you are creating something new, there is a bit of excitement the entire time you are working on it. But when it comes to a repair, it always ends up being much more than you bargain for.About a week or 2 ago, we noticed that one of the pieces of skatelite on the ramp was cracked. What we thought was that we'd replace a rib or 2 and it would be sweet. Well, a rib or 2 turned into the entire flatbottom needing replacing due to some heavy rotting going on. What can I say though, this part of the ramp has been there for 6 and a half years. The ribs were untreated wood and they've lasted this long ! Amazing for how much attention the ramp gets throughout the year. Anyhow, Here are a couple of photos what it looks like minus the flatbottom. Thanks Ryan Corrigan, Taj, Matt and the Kansas crew for all of their help thus far.Hopefully this will be all finished up by next week. Then its back to roastin ! Cheers

2009 Ruben frame prototype
There was one thing that I never specified when I was writing about our tradeshow booth at Interbike. The booth set up was alll based on the graphics from Ruben's new frame for 2009. Mr Sieben is responsible once again for the splendid imagery. We have had this frame in the works since the beginning of the year, and now the first prototype of it is ours to hold. I will post full specs on it in the next day or 2, but for now, here are a few pictures for you to check out. Frame pic 1 . Frame pic 2 , Frame pic 3 , Drop out pic , Enjoy !

Interbike 2008
Interbike in Vegas has come and gone. As usual, it was out of hand to say the least. We put in some long hours towards the creation of the T1 booth. As usual, it was a last minute scramble, but the end result was pretty damn cool. Click HERE to check out the booth.

Tom Dugan = radical dude !
The first time I ever met Tom Dugan, was last summer during my week visit to Woodward West. I remember sitting next to the bowl and looking over as he dropped in. The very first wall that he hit, resulted in a solid 9 foot air, and it might have been even higher to be honest. I was instantly a fan. I got to know him a bit there and we became friends. He mentioned that he might be coming to Austin so I gave him my # just in case. "This dude would kill the T1 ramp", I thought to myself. Fast forward to last winter. He and some friends relocated from their Kansas home, and moved to Austin. The group of them are always a treat to have around. Good times, and enjoying the day, is what Tom and his friends are all about. Hells yeah ! Recently, i gave Tom a Hickerson / Moody frame. Wahoo! . . . I've included a few photos above of Tom from earlier this year. Watching this guy is such a treat !

Cyclops stem update & artwork
A lot of you have been asking about the progress on our new Cyclops Stem which was designed by John Povah. Well, for now I have to say this. Its close, real close ! We have one last version to approve and then that should be it. Fingers are crossed. Anyhow, Phil Wasson at Super Rat Machine Works has been working really hard on this and we can't thank him enough for all of his help and input. Also, Michael Sieben dropped off the graphics he's been working on hat will be etched in the anodizing. So I get a pretty good idea of how its going to look. Yeah, these are going to be sweet when they are done ! We are planning on having 2 different designs. One is more artistic, and the other one is just a small logo. The colors are not decided yet, but I just wanted you to be able to see how they might look. Cheers !

More Danny on Woozy
Its Friday! Which means if you are out on the town in Austin tonight, then a Danny sighting is more than likely. Also, one of my favorite bands, Mogwai, are playing at Stubbs. Well worth your time ! So in celebration of the good evening, I figured why not link so more photos of Danny today. My "thank you's" today, go out to Dom at Woozy, and Cologne photographer, Joern Streitbuerger, for putting together this photo feature which contains more of Danny's Euro vacation earlier this year. Cheers !

Thanks Ricky and Will
I just wanted to extend a big thank you to Ricky Adam and Will from Dig Magazine for letting us use that rather beastly photo of Danny as our new intro page picture. Danny disappeared for 3 months in Europe earlier this year and its easy to see that he took full advantage of his vacation time.

Houston park petition
If you have been riding for any bit of time, this subject is nothing new. Grindline has built yet another masterpiece, this time at the city's edge in Houston. But its the same old story. No bikes allowed. Some of the riders down there have put together an online petition to see if they can get the bike rule over turned. If you search around on Google, you will see some of the completed images of this place. Its amazing. And hopefully one day, we'll all be able to ride it. If you are interested, you can sign the petition here.

Danny Hickerson . . . lost !
Danny Hickerson . . . Lost in Europe . . . Never to return home again . . . well not actually, but quite possibly. Danny has been in Europe for some time now and having the time of his life. I've gotten just one or 2 emails from him saying that he's been loving it. There was a small little video on Woozy popped up of him a few weeks ago, but that's all I've really seen. Mystery man. Can't blame him though, I'd be out enjoying the new new surroundings I was in too. Traveling can make you forget about everything at times, its like being a little kid again.

Let's see. Many of you have been asking about the new Cyclops stems and what the status of them are. Well, the truth is that they are due for one final change and then a bit more testing. Carson heat
Mr Sandy Carson has finally taken a vacation and is up in the Northwest for a few weeks. Which means the web update duties have been returned to me. And already I'm slackin'. I guess today is the end of that.
Austin has been hot hot hot the past month. I think its the hottest June on record. that has left many of us retreating indoors during the hottest part of the afternoon. And down at Barton Springs in the early evening. The water in the springs stays 68 degrees all year round. Which is a perfect remedy for ever so possible heat stoke. Summer in Austin seems to take on a much different effect that the winters here. As if Austin isn't laid back enough, it gets even more laaaaaaaaaaid back in the summer. Not too many visitors come to visit during this time. But its good in an entire different way.

T1 Fakie comp videos!

So the weekend of fakies has come and gone.
Here are 2 little vids for you to check out.
The first one is in HIGH
DEF of the days shenanigans. My camera ran out of juice before
the actual fakie high air comp started, soooooo, there are not straight fakies
on this video file.
However, this next one is all fakie
footy by Dave Parrick's nibble digi cam. Mat Hoffman
would be proud...
Everything wasn't documented entirely, we just filmed some and put these together
to give you an idea what you missed. My apologies go out to the dude that
pulled the ice fakie on the slab o vert without the aid of pegs. Once again,
my camera ran out of recording space on the attempt that you pulled it ! Oh
well, anyhow, good times in the back yard and thanks to Dave Parrick
for helping me film the majority of the footage that is on here. Cheers !
