RE-BRAND PROJECT

As part of his University of Kansas graphic design course, Justin Bell chose to re-brand T-1. This work involved designing product packaging, business cards, letterheads... Basically, anything a company would need - Justin designed a T-1 version. He also took his skills to the editing room and put his slant on Joe's "We Love Colorado". Thanks a lot to Justin for all his hard work, and congrats on receiving an A in the class!

Kurt Siever and Andy Maguire

Kurt Siever is a friend that I actually only know through emails. It's funny how that can even exist. But it does, and I am thankful for it. Through the past couple of years, we've talked more and more and I sent him some stuff to ride. Needless to say, I have only known him through his words and this alone made me want to help him out. He had sent me a few pics of his riding here and there, and every time I was amazed. He kills it and looks good doing everything. He just sent me over this very recent Vimeo link of him and his friend Andy Maguire shreddin' the Santa Cruz area. Kurt is the one that has the hat on the majority of the time. Take a few minutes and have a watch. These dudes shred ! Thanks Kurt :)

A '79 Trans Am, Mike Aitken, and Tom Dugan... a perfect trio if I must say so myself. Now that I have your attention... :) Last month, I was lucky enough to join them on a voyage through Idaho and Montana to film the newest installment of the ODSY VISION series. What an amazing area! This part of the country doesn't seem to get much attention, and I can't for the life of me figure out why. So much great stuff up yonder. We did our research and put together a very loose treasure map from the hidden concrete gems we discovered... This is the piece I made from our adventure. Enjoy!

Little update of life back in Australia FROM EMILY BRINDLEY

I saw a pretty funny scene this morning that inspired me to send you an update about our return to Australia. I think Russell is a bit antsy to build up a new Barcode, that he's gone mental and him and the boys have been building up bikes of all sorts... cruisers, fixies, tourers, mountain bikes, you name it! I did a rough count of how many bikes we have now, about 23 bikes, 7 people (plus 1 visitor, plus 1 extra bike), 5 chickens, and 1 dog. We've got a full house, of beautiful creatures, beautiful bikes and an abundance of good times! Here's some pictures to give you an idea of our full life!

SALT CITY BARS

Four piece bars were big throughout the 80's and 90's. The Haro Kneesavers ruled all for a few years, and GT followed up with some of their own four piece creations. As the years went on, you saw them less and less. However, every so often, different takes on four piece bars have popped up from time to time due to various interest. Jump forward to 2011 and T-1. Our interest comes from our very own Shawn 'Elf' Walters. We have worked with Shawn on these to fine tune them to his liking. Nothing earth shattering, just some dialing in here and there. Two piece bars will still remain far above all else, at the top... but we are proud to offer something that riders like Elf might enjoy. THE WOOD SHOP

The name could be deceiving in one right, if you had no idea what context it was being used in. On the other hand, it couldn't be more spot on. Salt Lake City's own Cameron Wood has just opened up his new BMX specific store, known as "The Wood Shop". Not only is it a word play with his last name, but sure enough, Cameron is one master woodworking craftsman. The idea behind the shop is to support a main group of brands that he feels very strongly about. Lucky for us, T-1 is one of them. Upon entering the front door, I would be surprised if the first thing that drew attention was the products he stocks. You see, he has put his tools to work and created a one of a kind experience, that shows exactly what Cameron is all about. He shows that maximum effort, over shadows maximum budget on any day. Cam has used almost all reclaimed or discarded wood on the interior design. You would never know it as the place is unreal. So the next time you are in Salt Lake and need something BMX-wise, or just want to meet a really awesome dude and see his kingdom for yourself, treat yourself and stop by.

FREAKY FRIDAY 07.01.11, ETC.

As a sort of "farewell" to Tom, we bring you this... Tom Dugan and I visited Ruben at home in Malaga back in May of this year. We both happened to be in the UK at the same time, and Spain was just too close to pass up. Ruben always seems to have some new, wild spot that he has been working on. He roped us both in with tales of green valleys, that are home to giant dirt curvatures. Yeah, we had to go see for ourselves. What is it with Malaga and these spots anyhow?! Thank you Ruben for those great days that we shared...

MIKE TAG BENEFIT UPDATE

Our benefit we held at T-1 this past Saturday for our good buddy Mike Tag was a huge success. People came out in the masses to help our brother in need. We raised almost $2100.00 for Mike, and we have a bunch of shirts to sell as well that will go towards his bills as well. Good times were had by all, and it was a great day. Sandy Carson was in the yard with camera in hand, so you can expect to see a full edit that will be on ESPN. He summed up great by saying it was a "fun day and rad vibes". Much love to you Mike!

MIKE TAG BENEFIT SHIRT

This is your chance to help out our friend, and BMX legend, Mike Tag. Mike is currently battling Lymphoma, and has no medical insurance. The story behind this design, that was drawn by Austin's own Shawn Rylander, is pretty simple. Mike Tag is a Scorpio in the horoscope world, hence the scorpion. In that same world, the crab is known as "Cancer". It was only fitting to show that Mike is kicking Cancer's ass! The artwork is complete with his initials "MT" on the mock PBR cans. Help Mike keep that cancer crab out of commission, and buy one of these shirts! All proceeds from these will be going directly towards Mike's medical bills. Together we can help him do this. Cheers!

TAG BENEFIT AT T-1

The time is now! . . . We here in Austin, are teaming up to help Mike Tag fight his battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma is a cancer that affects the lymphoid tissue, which includes the lymph nodes, spleen and other organs of the immune system. Terrible One & Sugar Tooth Bakery are hosting a benefit for Mike Tag on Saturday, June 25th. Many great people are putting in to give Mike a little Austin boost. There will be plenty of riding, food and beverages to accompany the good time to be had. Festivities will begin at 3 PM, and last until dark in the ol' backyard of Terrible One. Come and enjoy a day dedicated to helping our brother out. Check the flyer, and feel free to re-post it. If you have any questions regarding the benefit, please email me at : info@terribleone.com. OUT FOR JUSTICE JAM

There are those that talk about good ideas, and there are those that follow up on them and make those wild ideas a reality. Adam Schnellenbach has taken the steps to make reality his choice. On 4/2/11 the Out for Justice Jam at FDR in Philly will take place. Here is some insight behind what motivated Adam to put this event together. Damn fine words I must say Adam...
"I've had the idea in my mind for quite some time it just took a trip down to Texas to make this all come together and realize hey this can work. I spent two weeks down in Austin to hang with some friends and to just escape the harsh reality that is the Northeastern PA winter. After seeing the way different crews of men and women on bikes get along and travel in different groups around the city to be honest shocked me. We don't have that here in the City Of Brotherly Love. So after a drunken night out with Sandy, Grant, Gogo, and Corrigan, hearing about the upcoming BSD jam, I got off my ass and started sending out emails to make this happen and help the BMX community unite a bit at one of the best parks in the world FDR. My other reason is Van Homan, a legend to all had his head injury over the summer and his wife Sam got me onto do the, "Head First" helmets article in Dig which seems to be a big success. So I knew Van was down with the Athlete Recovery Foundation so why not have a donation bin at the jam with all money going to the ARF. So that's what we did, somehow I pulled off some amazing sponsors to help out and I'm sure this will be a blast. So bring your bikes, beers, a few dollars for the ARF if your feeling it. And STAY OFF THE POOL COPING YA TWATS!
Let's make this a Saturday to remember."

THINGS SOUND GOOD RIGHT NOW

The T-1 tour in Australia is getting closer and closer... Michael Sieben and Shawn Rylander collaborated on the tour poster design, which will also be available on a t-shirt. Thanks to everyone for their positive feedback and support.

In more Australian news, Rusty appears in BackboneBMX's new ad for 2020 and Focalpoint.

T-1 coffee mugs are in stock! We apologize for the high shipping costs, but that's the price we have to pay in order for them to be shipped safely and securely. Please also note that the turnaround time for orders will slow down until after the Oz tour. We'll still be shipping things out, it's just gonna take a little longer.

The Out For Justice Jam is next week!
Good times for a good cause!

ASK GARRETT SOME QUESTIONS

We'd like your help, please. For a future... something - maybe a Freaky Friday or a zine or a web post, not sure yet - we'd like to ask the T-1 team some questions and we'd like the questions to come from you. If you post your question(s) in the T-1 Facebook comments, we'll pick a bunch of them and see what kind of answers we get.

In order to try and keep some order, we'll do different posts for each rider, so post your question(s) underneath whichever rider it's aimed at.

Each time we do this we'll randomly pick a winner and they'll receive a pair of T-1 grips.

Let's start it off with the man, the legend, the dessert connoisseur, Mr. Garrett Byrnes. Post away! Thanks a lot! We appreciate it.

BLACKEN ATX PARTY TOMORROW!

To all riders in the Texas / Austin area:

I am honored to be a guest on Mega Tour 10 with FBM and having the time of my life in Texas and with my BMX brothers.

I was thinking that a lot of times on these trips the "teams" don't get a chance to spend time together or connect with the older locals who have been building a scene for decades. After some thought, I decided one of the best ways to connect everyone is to have an awesome Party / Punk / Metal Show with all of the riders of Austin and on Mega Tour!! With just a little over 24 hours notice, we just booked the plane tickets and Japanther is flying in tomorrow!! We are also super excited that Tia Carrera is going to be playing along with the Gentleman Rouges.

The show is only $5 to help support the bands and there will also be a free beer tasting from Thirsty Planet from 9 to 9:30, so get there early for free beer. There will be a bunch of surprises along with some classic BMX videos being shown by Stew Johnson!

And to the younger guys in Austin, I'm sorry that it's 21+ but I will be down here for South by South-West and we are working on some all ages shows with BMX trails - keep you posted.

See you at the party!!

GROUNDCHUCK

Isaac McCrea is someone that had way more impact on me that I realized. Well, that is until yesterday. Isaac " Groundchuck " McCrea is from Pittsburgh, PA. Back in the legendary days of PUSH, he was a household name in the BMX world of trails. Great dude, had an awesome dad named Larry, and possessed some of the most stylish, effortless riding one could ever hope for. I got a text from Stew Johnson the other day saying that Isaac was going to be in town for a day. What?! It had been 13 years since I saw this dude last. I instantly went digging around in one of my old photo albums in search of a few pics I had taken of him long ago. When I found them, I think that's when it really hit me. He could do these things so easily, which I would spend years and years in pursuit of. Well, Isaac showed up at my front door yesterday, and it was as if nothing had changed. Same great dude! We caught a quick bite for lunch, along with his wife and Stew. Then proceeded to ride a few lines together down at 9th St. It brought back a lot of memories of riding in the trees of Pennsylvania with him. Funny enough, I believe I even heard him say, "I've been waiting since I was 15 to ride this place!" To have both Isaac and Chase at 9th, and be riding with them both, created a bit of a moment for me. Here are 2 guys, that had rewritten what style was all about riding BMX bikes. What a day. I'll be thinking about this one for awhile...

Ruben thinks differently from a lot of people. Not everyone would come up with the idea of making a video to thank the people that have supported them throughout the years. Cheers, amigo! Gracias por todo.

MEL CODY - ALLENTOWN

I stumbled across this (Mel_Cody_video) last night on exclusivebmx.com, and then I got an email from Sandy Carson today with the link. This video is so crazy to me, as it was the first contest I had ever gone to when I first got into riding. Mel Cody has been a great friend of mine for a long time, and back when this was filmed, I thought he was a super hero. I had no idea people that lived around me could ride like this. Watching this brings back some really good memories, and I know I'm standing somewhere over there in the crowd. Damn, this is the kind of stuff that ignited that BMX fire inside.

A WEEKEND IN ZARAGOZA

This past weekend I went to Zaragoza to hang out and ride with my old friends (David and Sergio) from the BMX bike shop Dagroove
(T-1 distro & Flybikes carrier) and their crew.

I had a great time and got to to ride some nice spots. All the locals there were very nice and made my days there great.

Zaragoza is a great city to pedal around with a lot of old buildings (don't miss the magic of Pilarica), nice streets with a lot going on, good food, nice spots to ride... Not bad at all...
Good city to go ride for sure.

Thanks to Dagroove for making this happen and all the locals that came to hang out.

I'm coming back so I hope to see you soon!
Viva la Pilarica!

Barcode Progress

So here is the latest on what's going on with the Barcodes. Big Dave from FBM was just down in Austin this past week. He stopped by and we went to the coffee shop to have a chat about what all was going on with the frames. Everything is shaping up nicely to say the least. The only bit that has changed is the time frame on them. Originally we thought they might get started this month ( November ). Due to their production schedule at FBM, Dave will be starting on the Barcodes after the first of the year. They are supposed to deliver sometime during the first half of February. There are still a few minor adjustments to make after getting the Interbike sample. Once the new tooling is set up, Dave is going to run one frame all the way through and next day it to me to OK. Once that happens, go time it is! We will be posting any progress that gets made with these. Hang in there!

ANTHILLS TRAIL JAM, HOUSTON

I woke up at 7:30am excited as can be. Take a quick rinse off shower, put the bike rack back on the Pfinder, go round up the dudes and load up. My car packed with Logan, Joseph Frans, Turner, Mr Hickerson and myself headed to Houston for a jam at some local trails known as the Anthills. It was a great scene to arrive at to say the least. A bunch of friendly folk, hangin' out in the woods having a good time. Pretty much the mantra for trails in general ! I had a blast and enjoyed the day down thanks to so many great people. Special thanks goes out to Anthony for arranging everything and making the day a reality. Here are a few pictures and captions to respark some memory banks out there !

RIP Arroyo Trails

Yes... Unfortunately the Arroyo trails in Malaga are going down. The town is going to construct buildings on top of it and if we are lucky and they have money after the buildings are done, they will build a skatepark too. That's not bad, although I'd rather have these amazing trails... The place is all fenced up and they're starting this week. :(

We wanted to make a group video thing about it but since our friend Pitu is hurt it will take a little while, since he is the one who is going to make it...

So for know I wanted let you know what's going on and say my personal adios to it...

Adios to the steep jumps and hips. Adios to those whips and tables. Adios rocky dirt and nice trees...

If there is a God out there (any kind I don't mind), thanks for letting us ride this place for the last years. Oh! Please let us ride the other trails for a long time! Yes, the ones by the highway...  Thanks again!

RIP Arroyo Trails

BACK FROM SOMEWHERE

Apologies for the lack of updates recently. There's a lot going on (new Barcodes, new clothing, new catalog, etc., etc.).

We just got a Barcode back from the painters in the new Tom Dugan Red. No definite release date yet, but it's leaning way more to the sooner side than the later one.
Thanks a lot to Tunney for the ESPN post.

Stowaway have been pumping out a lot of Australian T-1 updates recently. They have a new video from Russ and Leigh dropping soon, as well as an exclusive to Australia poster... Noice! Look for Russ' Ruben colorway landing later this month.

PRODUCT UPDATE

We've updated the product sections (more info on the SFA soon). The Hang Loose mesh hats are on their way to the distros, and we're gathering orders for the new Barcodes. This time they'll have more tire clearance, an integrated seat clamp, welded or removable brake mount options, a 3D gusset on the down tube (the 3D gusset doesn't sit flush to the tube. It creates a small space in between the gusset and the tube, forming a small box. This added area gives it more strength), and will be available in Black, Clearcoat and Tom Dugan Red.

There's a cool little Q&A with Sandy over on Defgrip about his new book. Treat yourself!

JOEL DAY

"The first symptom of the process of killing our dreams is the lack of time. The busiest people I have known for all my life always have enough time to do everything. Those who do nothing are always tired and pay no attention to the little amount of work they are required to do. They complain constantly that the day is too short. The truth is . . . . they are afraid to fight the good fight!" - Paulo Coelho

That quote is from an old ad we ran of Joel, that you can find here - Joel_BSpin_Ad. You can also find an interview we just did with him here - Joel_Interview - and some never seen before clips of him that Joe filmed and put together here - Joel_Video.

HELLS YEAH!

After many long years of city council meetings, and hard work, followed by a year or two of the waiting game, Austin City Council authorized the final contracts yesterday for the construction of Austin's BMX and Skate Park downtown. It will take another few weeks to tie up some loose ends, so it's anticipated that the construction will break ground sometime in July. This is a huge deal as it will be the first bike/skate park in and around the Austin area. I can remember thinking at all of those city council meetings, "I really hope this works . . . . and if this really does happen, I wonder how long it will take". I think it's been a good 5 or 6 years since that time. But all that matters is that the beginning is near.
Good stuff!

- Joe

P.S. 4Down Distribution added us to their Experience t-shirt. Thanks!

If you've ever come to ride the T-1 ramp, then you surely know the sound of the chain being unlatched as the gate opens. This familiar sound is 8 years running. As of today, he will start his long journey home.

Well, things don't always go as planned... Tonight, instead of announcing next month's dates for the T-1 Australian tour, where it was going, and who was gonna be on it... We're announcing that the tour's been postponed until the Australian Spring.

Unfortunately, Ruben took a pretty heavy slam and it's unlikely that he'd be 100% fit in time. Plus, the Oz tour was to follow immediately after Danny's two week long Empire fliming trip in Spain, so it would be easier on everyone to wait a little while longer.

CYCLOPS STEM UPDATE

A lot of people have been asking us about the Cyclops stems throughout the past months. They were set to be released at long last, towards the end of October of last year. So what happened? Where are they? Well, let's just say it's been a roller coaster of events. Everything was in line for them to happen, and then the bottom dropped out. At the end of last October, we were expecting the delivery of 100 stems, and the reality that we were dealt, left us without a stem manufacturer. It was a pretty rough time and has been ever since. I looked into a few other options but they didn't quite pan out. As of this past week, there is new hope for the Cyclops stem to see life in the near future. Stay tuned for updates, hopefully we'll have some good news for you soon. Cheers !

Work has started on a new video from Elf and Jordon. There's a bunch of heavy hitters lined up for sections. Keep an eye on the 5050BMX blog for more info.

If you wanna start the year off in a good way then the Death Jam maybe exactly what you're looking for...

Lastly, but by no means leastly... Danny's new prototype arrived last week.

Thanks!

BARCODES

The first batch of 25 Barcodes arrived today. Solid are working on Garrett frames right now, then there'll be another run of 25 Barcodes shortly after those.
The following is the email that went out to everyone that has ordered a Barcode. This pertains ONLY to this and the next run of Barcodes (not the Garretts). Once these Maas parts are all used up, Solid will be making the rear ends and the design will be changed to accommodate fatter tires.
As always, thanks for the support - we really appreciate it. Here's what Joe had to say...

I'm not sure of how much of a concern this is to you all, but this is something I've come to notice so I'm passing the info along. The rear end, both seat stay, and chainstay assemblies on the new Barcode frames actually came from Maas, our old frame builder. Before he closed, he ended up shipping all of the parts he still had for frames to Solid. Among this shipment were complete chainstay / wishbone and seat stay / wishbone sets. Which means, it was the BB, wishbone, chainstays, and dropouts all welded up. Along with the top wishbone and seat stays all welded up. Same as they have always been. He was going to do more Barcodes for us before closing his doors, but it never happened. He only had the sub assemblies for the rear ends built. So, the rear ends on these are how they've always been. However, I know that a lot of people run fatter tires nowadays, which wasn't the case a year or two ago. I always ran a 2.0 or 1.95 in the back. Now I run a 2.15. So I wouldn't be able to run my current set up slammed on the Barcodes. I'd have to run it right at about 14" in the rear. However, Russell Brindley stopped by today and we checked his Odyssey 1.95 tire on the frames, and it fits fine slammed. I talked with Tom from Empire about it and he didn't see it as any kind of a problem, but we decided that I would write and let you know that this was something I was aware of. The frames arrived today and look amazing. We had some additional machining done on the seat tubes as well. And that brings the final weight of these Barcode frames to 4.75 pounds ( 4 lbs, 12 oz. )! Hope to hear from you soon. Cheers.
- Joe

YOU ON THE RUN

Next Saturday there's a Catty Woods benefit jam at the Panamoka trails in Long Island.

Many of you may know about the situation that is goin' on out in PA with the Catty Woods trails. The trails have recently been cleared to be legal, but it comes with a cost. They are in over 10 grand in debt now. The Trails community is a pretty tight one and we always look out for one another. With that in mind, us here on Long Island are setting up a benefit jam for them to try and raise some money and help anyway possible with their debt. The jam will be on Saturday Oct. 17th and it will be held at our trails called Panamoka. - Keith Terra

Support a good cause. More info on the flyer.

Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery go to Austin's most famous homeless person, and recent Freaky Friday subject, Leslie.

Take care out there.

Attention all upstanding citizens of Salt Lake City and the surrounding area! Please be on the lookout for Elf's bike (Hickerson frame, new T1 Logan's Run sprocket, and assorted Animal/Fly/Eclat parts) - someone decided they should have it more than him.
Looking on the positive side: they did leave his bars behind... And, he's already aboard a new Barcode.
If anyone has any info regarding the bike, you can contact Elf through the good people at 5050BMX.com. Thanks!
More positivity: Joel's making the move to LA to pursue his acting career! He'll be sorely missed in Austin, but we wish him all the best!

BARCODE update

We've added some more information to the Barcode specs to try and clarify a few things. The chainstays are 14" (measured from the center of the BB shell to the center of the dropout), and the stand over height is 8.5" (measured from the center of the BB shell to the TOP of the toptube using the seat tube angle). Some companies measure to the middle of the top tube.
Also, the BB height is 11 & 15/16 (measured with Pitchforks and a 2.25" Ruben tire in the front and a 2.15" Ruben tire in the rear). The height will vary due to fork choice and tire size and inflation. When submitting a CAD drawing to have a frame produced, the measurement that defines the BB height on a frame is measured from the axle line to the center of the BB shell. This is 45mm.
Phew! Hope that clears a few things up. Thanks for all the interest shown in the new Barcode. We appreciate it. And, here's Joe's new ride - JoeBC09.

In the land of the blind,
the one-eyed man is king

Finally we have an update regarding the new products. We'll have a shipment arriving in the Fall and this'll include Ruben's frame, plus new bars and the new sprockets.

The Ruben frame's coming in three color options: two tone Light Blue/Dark Blue, two tone Cream/Grey and also in Solid Black. The toptube lengths will be 20.6", 20.8", and 21.15" and the weight is around 5 pounds even.

There's also two sets of multi-butted bars. 11 butts to be exact. There is one model with an 8" rise / 28" width, and an 8.25" rise / 28.5" width. They will be available in Black, Raw and Cream.

The "Logan's Run" sprockets. Sizes: 25T, 28T and 30T, in Black, Red and Silver.

Right around the same time that stuff is available, we'll have a run of Cyclops stems too. It's looking like Black and Polished will be the first 2 colors available. But there will be more runs to follow in a few different colors. Reach: 53mm. Weight: right at 10 oz.

SFA frames: These will be manufactured by Solid Bikes. They are just waiting to get some remaining parts in, and they should start production. These will be more of a novelty item, as our cost on them has gone up a lot.
Because of the price increase, we won't be able to sell these through distributors. They would just cost way too much. So these will be sold to customers direct, and some bike shops too. So if you are interested in one of these beauties, please contact me at: info@terrribleone.com. Please put SFA frame on the subject line.

Barcodes: We are currently waiting for another prototype with some minor changes from the first prototype we received. I will post pictures as soon as it comes in. These will be available very soon and will be sold through distributors and bike shops.

Thanks.

As far as news on the Ruben frame, all of the new bars and the new sprocket(!) goes... We're expecting those to be available in early summer. Again, you'll know more as soon as we know more (actually, we'll know a little bit before you... ). Thanks for your patience.
To finish up, Mikey has a new Blog over on Fecal Face. It's low in fat yet crammed full of inspirational goodness!
Have a good weekend!

CYCLOPS

We've got some Cyclops news. Nah, not about Ray Harryhausen's monster but about our own little monster - the T1 Cyclops stem.
In 2-3 weeks we should have finished samples. That means, anodized and etched stems which just have to be okayed and then production will start. It's been a long road of testing and refining, but one we feel was necessary in order to produce the best possible product. Many thanks to Povah, Phil at Super Rat Machine Works and everyone who helped with the testing and who gave us feedback. We hope you'll like it. Thanks for your patience.
And, here's a little Youtube find to finish this post off. Tape shredder.
Have a good weekend.

THE WAY WE APPEAR ON THE INTERNET

Okay, it seems that last week's Freaky Friday email caused some confusion. Personally, I'm all for that, but anyway, here's the thinking behind it... We did a Google image search for people with the same name as T1 riders. Some drew blanks but the elusive Mr. Buchanan's name drew the rather elegant looking gentleman that became our Freaky Friday subject. Noice, huh? Ah well, here's how art genius Michael Sieben really looks... Or is it???

T1 desktops !

So since we posted pictures of our new sweatshirts yesterday, We thought it would be sweet to offer some simple desktop images based on the new Bullseye and Goat Reaper designs. If you like the artwork and are broke, maybe this will be a quick fix for wanting a sweatshirt. Cheers !

Choose your size

Bullseye Desktops: 800x600, 1024x768, 1440x960, 1680x1050

Goat Reaper Desktops: 800x600, 1024x768, 1440x960, 1680x1050

frigid air soultions

One thing I've noticed, is that we are always late with getting our sweatshirts out for the season. Most of the time, its already getting warmer by the time they are in stores. Well, I feel like we are ahead of our usual game this year at least. And I just saw a news bit today that it was 40 degrees below zero last night in Minnesota. So these should at least help y'all with keeping warm over the next months.

I had this idea that I wanted to see a back print again on a zip up sweatshirt. So Michael and I thought that the Goat Reaper would be perfect for that. To me it looks more like some heavy metal band's hoodie. That was the goal. I'm sure more than a few of you will laugh at the Bullseye design. I feel like its very fitting for us in a fun way. Not to mention, I really like the arrows that are printed on the hood.

Both of these sweatshirts are printed on 50/50 American Apparel Sweatshirts. So most of you should like the fit. Although some of us may have to go up a size. ha ha. Enjoy.

January 12, 2009

the day before tomorrow

Happy January 12th to everyone. And why wouldn't it be?! It seems like the new Dig Magazine "trials issue" has been quite a hit. There is so much good stuff packed into those pages and it seems that everyone wants to have one to call their own. Don't miss out. I thought it would be appropriate to keep their energy flowin' and include some dirt on this post. Here is a picture of the new Ruben frame prototype built up and in action. So far everything has been going well with testing. We are waiting on one more prototype to correct the height of the bottom bracket. Apart from that. Everything seems spot on. Fingers will continue to stay crossed. As you can see, Ruben seems to be liking it during this 3. Also, you can check out more specs on the frame in by clicking on the "frames" button to the right of this posting. Thanks for stopping by !

Happy New Year !

Well, here we are, 2009. What a trip. Even though measured time is something we made up, it still seems so crazy to think about how quickly days, weeks, months and years pass by. January 1st is always such a good day. People seem to look at things with a new light and enthusiasm. There is plety of talk of change and how we are going to be better people this year. We just gotta make sure we actually follow our words, not just say them with empty meaning. Ponder that one for awhile. Here in T1 land, this year is starting off right because Paul Buchanan is back in town. I can remember when I'd see that guy everyday. And his return was an instant reminder of how great that dude is. So "Cheers" to Paul for starting this year off right ! Its going to be a good one ! So with that being said, I would also like to mention that the great Shoe-G did and interview with me ( Joe Rich ) for his website and is posting it in 2 parts. The first one is up now and the 2nd part will be posted this week. If you are interested in what may lie within it, click here ! Cheers to y'all and Happy New Year !

December 23, 2008

Happy Holidays !

It tis that time of year again isn't it. Wow, does time fly. I first want to start by thanking everyone that's helped us make it another year. Its been a doozy of one to say the least. Maybe a year that has brought about the most change in what we do in awhiile. I can only imagine what I'll be typing here at this time next year . . . Since it is the season for giving, you might want to give a moment of your sign the petitiion that some guys from PA need help with. These are the same guys that have been fighting to keep the Catty trails from getting plowed. And all of their hard work has paid off, and now they are approaching the state to help change one of the laws that was working against them. If this passes, it will could help enable future trails and skateparks to happen. Click here to sign. In similar news regarding these same guys, Matt Trievel and Brian Barnhart have created an online zine called "The Dust Journal" and have just released their second issue. Click here to check out Axelrad. Take care and Happy Holidays to you all. Cheers !

December 1, 2008

images galore !

Greg Dickson came over to ride the ramp for the first time the other day. Greg is a rad dude that shares his time on the bike with taking great photos as well. Click here to check out some of his snaps of Tom D and roomy Joey, along with one of myself. This could be any random day in the T1 backyard.

We also got some new sticker sheets in and up on the online store. They are all black ink printed on whilte vinyl that you cut out yourself. We even drew a little pair of scissors on the sheet so that you know what to use ! Cheers !

November 26, 2008

Today was a good day !

Sun was shining, weather was perfect, and the newest prototype version of the Cyclops stem arrived this morning. These photos might not look that much different than the last ones, but I can tell you that this might be the final prototype for the Cyclops stem. Phil Wasson, from Super Rat Machine Works, worked some magic with the inner workings of the wedge clamping system. And the results are nothing short of excellent. I sent one off to Danny today and put the other one on my bike. Damn, I sure am exctied about these things. Its been a long road of testing and refining, but when they do finally become available, they will be the best that we could do. Here are a few more pictures for you to see. Cheers Pic1, Pic 2, Pic 3

November 24, 2008

19 days . . . that's bad !

I'm definitely not proud of this one, but I guess its been 19 days since the last news post . . . I might as well try and make light of it. There will be more to report in this upcoming week. Tomorrow is an exciting day for me. I'm to receive the 6th, yes 6th version of the Cyclops stem. Its been through months of fine tuning and my fingers are crossed that this will be the one that gives the green light to the prodution of them. So expect more photos of these tomorrow after they arrive in the PO BOX. On a lighter note, the ramp out back is finally all back together. We made one small, but not so small change to the kicker hip that runs into the 8 ft quarter. It used to be about 3 and a half, to 4 feet tall, and had a 11 or 12 ft transition. I had the bright idea of thinking we should make it the same size as the box jump lip. ( 6 ft tall with a 9 ft tranny ) Its pretty nuts and will need to be cut down a bit, but for now, it stands tall. That big ol bowl corner before it makes it a bit to hectic to deal with. Check it here. And to round out tonights entertainment, click here for some downhill insanity ! These guys are nuts ! Adios for now . . . .

November 5, 2008

Camera handle solution !

A few years back, we made a handle that you could easily bolt on to your small video camera to make filming while riding a bike much easier. Perfect for the follow cam. These came about because the more expensive cameras have handles built in, but there is no much of a choice if you have a smaller camera. Well, we got a cease and desist from some miserable bastard that was claiming he had a patent on a similar design. Not the case, but we stopped making them. Since that time, I've had so many emails asking to us to make them again. In comes our friend Steve to the rescue, with a perfect idea that anyone can do with an old set of bars and just about any tripod. This is the easiest solution I've seen yet and is Ruben approved ! Soooo good! Happy filming to you all !

Happy Halloween

Halloween is probably my favorite holiday. If you could call it a holiday. Everyone gets to step outside themselve a bit more than usual. I love it. Pumpkins are pretty fun to carve as well. While visiting the east coast last week, I got to partake in a heavy pumpkin carving session in Garrett's kitchen. Russ is part of the T1 family and lives in Australia. He had never gotten to experiece this before so it was extra fun for him. He, and his wife Emily, both schooled it. Garrett's room mate, JB, incorporateda little Mikey Sieben influence. Click the following links to see who did what. Garrett's pumpkin . . . Russ's pumpkin . . . Emily's pumpkin . . . Joe's pumpkin . . . . and JB's pumpkin. Scary stuff. On another note, its seems like someone decided to dress up as Paul Buchanan for Halloween in Vancouver ! Ok, maybe not, this is acually Paul getting rad at the Kirkstone park in BC. I think this is one of the first pictures of Paul you can actually see his face. Thanks goes out to Chester Jones for sending those to us. Happy Halloween everyone, the night's about to get good!

Dear Mr. Mike Aitken . . .

Mr Mike . . . what can I say . . . you have been so good to all of us throughout the years . . . putting a smile on my face each and everytime I see you in person, or a photo of you riding, or a video clip. And then there are all of Elf's stories . . . . Damn . . . truely amazing to say the least. Seeing you do what you do is an inspiration always. I know times are tough at the moment, but you got this! And we'll all do what we can to help. All of us here in Austin have had you in our daily thoughts. We have been working on planing a day at T-1 , a damn good day that is, that may help you out a little bit. Its the least we could do. Hang in there buddy, I'll be up to see you next week. Stage 1

There is something about getting a stack of new lumber that never gets old. Once all of the rotton wood had been cleared out of the flatbottom on the ramp, it wasn't long before that stack of lumber was put into place. Check it out here. When we first started on the flatbottom, we were only going to be repairing what needed fixin',but once it was all apart, we started thinking more and more. Hmmmm, maybe we should change a thing or 2. stay tuned !

colored grips

Hello everyone ! If you live where there are lots of trees, chances are, you are experiencing some amazing fall colors right now. Unfortunately, when you live in Austin, summer lasts well into the months that welcome fall weather and colors everywhere else. None the less, I can't complain because the weather is niceer than its been in months. However, we have some seasonal color going on here at T1. Right before the Interbike trade show we got our newest shipment of grips in. 5 colors to choose from now, and are available everywhere now. Check them out here

Call it ramp surgery

I've come to realize that when you are creating something new, there is a bit of excitement the entire time you are working on it. But when it comes to a repair, it always ends up being much more than you bargain for.About a week or 2 ago, we noticed that one of the pieces of skatelite on the ramp was cracked. What we thought was that we'd replace a rib or 2 and it would be sweet. Well, a rib or 2 turned into the entire flatbottom needing replacing due to some heavy rotting going on. What can I say though, this part of the ramp has been there for 6 and a half years. The ribs were untreated wood and they've lasted this long ! Amazing for how much attention the ramp gets throughout the year. Anyhow, Here are a couple of photos what it looks like minus the flatbottom. Thanks Ryan Corrigan, Taj, Matt and the Kansas crew for all of their help thus far.Hopefully this will be all finished up by next week. Then its back to roastin ! Cheers

2009 Ruben frame prototype

There was one thing that I never specified when I was writing about our tradeshow booth at Interbike. The booth set up was alll based on the graphics from Ruben's new frame for 2009. Mr Sieben is responsible once again for the splendid imagery. We have had this frame in the works since the beginning of the year, and now the first prototype of it is ours to hold. I will post full specs on it in the next day or 2, but for now, here are a few pictures for you to check out. Frame pic 1 . Frame pic 2 , Frame pic 3 , Drop out pic , Enjoy !

Interbike 2008

Tom Dugan = radical dude !

The first time I ever met Tom Dugan, was last summer during my week visit to Woodward West. I remember sitting next to the bowl and looking over as he dropped in. The very first wall that he hit, resulted in a solid 9 foot air, and it might have been even higher to be honest. I was instantly a fan. I got to know him a bit there and we became friends. He mentioned that he might be coming to Austin so I gave him my # just in case. "This dude would kill the T1 ramp", I thought to myself. Fast forward to last winter. He and some friends relocated from their Kansas home, and moved to Austin. The group of them are always a treat to have around. Good times, and enjoying the day, is what Tom and his friends are all about. Hells yeah ! Recently, i gave Tom a Hickerson / Moody frame. Wahoo! . . . I've included a few photos above of Tom from earlier this year. Watching this guy is such a treat !

Cyclops stem update & artwork

A lot of you have been asking about the progress on our new Cyclops Stem which was designed by John Povah. Well, for now I have to say this. Its close, real close ! We have one last version to approve and then that should be it. Fingers are crossed. Anyhow, Phil Wasson at Super Rat Machine Works has been working really hard on this and we can't thank him enough for all of his help and input. Also, Michael Sieben dropped off the graphics he's been working on hat will be etched in the anodizing. So I get a pretty good idea of how its going to look. Yeah, these are going to be sweet when they are done ! We are planning on having 2 different designs. One is more artistic, and the other one is just a small logo. The colors are not decided yet, but I just wanted you to be able to see how they might look. Cheers !

More Danny on Woozy

Its Friday! Which means if you are out on the town in Austin tonight, then a Danny sighting is more than likely. Also, one of my favorite bands, Mogwai, are playing at Stubbs. Well worth your time ! So in celebration of the good evening, I figured why not link so more photos of Danny today. My "thank you's" today, go out to Dom at Woozy, and Cologne photographer, Joern Streitbuerger, for putting together this photo feature which contains more of Danny's Euro vacation earlier this year. Cheers !

Thanks Ricky and Will

I just wanted to extend a big thank you to Ricky Adam and Will from Dig Magazine for letting us use that rather beastly photo of Danny as our new intro page picture. Danny disappeared for 3 months in Europe earlier this year and its easy to see that he took full advantage of his vacation time.

Houston park petition

If you have been riding for any bit of time, this subject is nothing new. Grindline has built yet another masterpiece, this time at the city's edge in Houston. But its the same old story. No bikes allowed. Some of the riders down there have put together an online petition to see if they can get the bike rule over turned. If you search around on Google, you will see some of the completed images of this place. Its amazing. And hopefully one day, we'll all be able to ride it. If you are interested, you can sign the petition here.

Danny Hickerson . . . lost !

Danny Hickerson . . . Lost in Europe . . . Never to return home again . . . well not actually, but quite possibly. Danny has been in Europe for some time now and having the time of his life. I've gotten just one or 2 emails from him saying that he's been loving it. There was a small little video on Woozy popped up of him a few weeks ago, but that's all I've really seen. Mystery man. Can't blame him though, I'd be out enjoying the new new surroundings I was in too. Traveling can make you forget about everything at times, its like being a little kid again.

Cyclops stem update

Let's see. Many of you have been asking about the new Cyclops stems and what the status of them are. Well, the truth is that they are due for one final change and then a bit more testing. This has taken a bit longer than we had thought, but better to get it all right before putting it out there. More news on these to come.

Carson heat

Mr Sandy Carson has finally taken a vacation and is up in the Northwest for a few weeks. Which means the web update duties have been returned to me. And already I'm slackin'. I guess today is the end of that.

Austin has been hot hot hot the past month. I think its the hottest June on record. that has left many of us retreating indoors during the hottest part of the afternoon. And down at Barton Springs in the early evening. The water in the springs stays 68 degrees all year round. Which is a perfect remedy for ever so possible heat stoke. Summer in Austin seems to take on a much different effect that the winters here. As if Austin isn't laid back enough, it gets even more laaaaaaaaaaid back in the summer. Not too many visitors come to visit during this time. But its good in an entire different way.

T1 Fakie comp videos!

So the weekend of fakies has come and gone. Here are 2 little vids for you to check out.
The first one is in HIGH DEF of the days shenanigans. My camera ran out of juice before the actual fakie high air comp started, soooooo, there are not straight fakies on this video file.
However, this next one is all fakie footy by Dave Parrick's nibble digi cam. Mat Hoffman would be proud...
Everything wasn't documented entirely, we just filmed some and put these together to give you an idea what you missed. My apologies go out to the dude that pulled the ice fakie on the slab o vert without the aid of pegs. Once again, my camera ran out of recording space on the attempt that you pulled it ! Oh well, anyhow, good times in the back yard and thanks to Dave Parrick for helping me film the majority of the footage that is on here. Cheers ! -joe
